year 9

Year nine is a crucial hinge point both in terms of academic progression and in personal development. The right support before and after year nine is crucial to support students well. Students are going through a massive transition from year seven to year nine, finding independence and developing their own identity.

Year nine is usually the onset of puberty and rapid brain development including; physical, mental, emotional and social growth, care and attention is required to support this transition. Year nine to year eleven is another transition where students select their GCSE and FE options, making decisions that move them towards particular career fields.
